Orchestrating the Visual Identity
of a New Edition
The “Jazz in Marciac” festival enjoys a solid reputation and rich history, built on decades of successful events and a recognisable visual identity. Yet each new edition brings the challenge of reinvention. It is crucial to attract an ever-wider and more diverse audience while honouring the visual heritage that made the festival renowned. The challenge lies in maintaining continuity with previous editions while bringing fresh creativity and a distinct identity for the current year, all deployed across a multitude of formats.
How do you design a full 360° visual identity for the “Jazz in Marciac” festival that both respects the existing graphic heritage and introduces a fresh, memorable visual signature for the current edition?
Creative Process
The challenge was to roll out this identity consistently across a wide range of promotional materials, from print to digital, including posters, merchandise, social media content, and promotional videos, while ensuring maximum impact and instant recognition.
Research & Concept
The exploration covered various visual directions capable of symbolising jazz, the festival and its location, seeking a balance between classicism and modernity.
Graphic Identity Development
A graphic charter specific to this edition was then developed, including a colour palette, typography choices, as well as distinctive patterns and visual elements
360° Design & Rollout
The most critical phase was ensuring the consistent rollout of this identity across all event touchpoints.
Solution
The identity came to life through striking posters capturing the essence of the edition, a complete merchandising range to strengthen the sense of belonging, and dynamic social media visuals to amplify its reach. An animated promotional video, embodying the rhythm and energy of jazz, was also produced to present the line-up on YouTube and social media.
The result is an identity that respects the heritage of “Jazz in Marciac” while breathing new energy into it.
